Tension Final

Artist Statement

This photo shows the idea of tension between siblings, in this case sisters. The picture is composed of two sisters with their back to each other in adjacent chairs. One is looking away with annoyance while the other is staring directly into the camera with crossed arms and what is supposed to be a scowl.

The chairs right next to each other represents the closeness expected of family members, while the people looking away from each other shows the obvious tension. Subtle signs like the crossed arms, reclined posture, and refusal to look at each other also portray tension.
