Mood & Color Final

Artist Statement
In this picture, I chose to explore the relationship between a person's mood, and the perception of a color either defining or representing that mood. Whether through metaphors (feeling blue) or literal looks (red with anger), society tends to attach certain colors to moods, and often these colors become inextricably linked with a specific emotion.

The color yellow is used to show a elated/surprised mood, as it is representative of light, which is also associated with happiness. Pink is used to show a general happiness, and references the association between blushing or becoming flushed when laughing. Red represents heartbreak/anger, and aside from being known as an emotional color, is also frequently used to show passion and boldness, especially when conveying negative feelings. Grey, or the absence of a color, conveys a neutral emotion, which is supposed to indicate the absence of feeling or mood. Green represents jealousy and envy, paying homage to the popular phrases "green with envy" and "green with jealousy". Lastly, Blue represents sadness, drawing from the refrain "feeling blue".
