Incomplete Final

Artist Statement
This picture reflects upon the idea of being incomplete, specifically how a person you love being absent can make a person feel as though they are incomplete. Incompleteness takes many forms, both physical and emotional. I chose to exhibit my take on incompleteness by addressing the emotional aspect, as I felt that more people could relate to this idea. Lastly, I chose the more romantic/love interest side of emotional incompleteness, but the theme of this picture can be applied to any situation in which someone has lost a person they cared for.

Firstly, in the picture viewers will notice a brightly colored background of post it notes. Each of these has a date in the corner, representing a time and place where a persons relationship made them happy, accompanied by a brief description why. These are intentionally in focus so that viewers may read a few to further experience he image emotionally. There is an empty picture frame centered in the image, representing the loss or absence of a loved one. The frame has absolutely nothing in it, not even a blank sheet, as to symbolize the loss of someone who is truly irreplaceable, since nothing else could take their place. A dead and dried flower is resting up against the frame, symbolizing again the departure of a loved one, along with a "52 reasons I love you" card deck, to show viewers that the departed cared about their partner. A letter addressed "for when you are lonely" along with some teabags, is further present to symbolize the remaining partners attempts to cope with their loss, but the fact that the letter is unopened shows that they have not truly gained any closure yet.
